Forest Fest Yoga Hike

  • Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

This is my first year as part of the National Park’s Forest Fest, an opportunity to explore the park in its fall glory by learning about forest history, ecology, and art. In addition to my Yoga Hike, there will be horse-drawn wagon rides, woodworking and portable sawmill demos, wood crafts for kids, and more. All for FREE!!!

Of course, there’s no better way to explore the forest than through the lens of yoga. Join us for a moving meditation along the less-traveled paths of the park such as the little-known Water Garden, North Peak, and One Less Traveled Trails.  We’ll hike all the way to the Pogue and end at the Prosper Road trailhead, where a shuttle will bring us back to the Visitor Center. Expect lots of great yoga stops and a relaxing meditation at the end of this event sponsored by the National Park Service.

No need to sign up; come enjoy Forest Fest and plan to be at the Formal Gardens (by the Mansion) by 1:45 so we can start the hike promptly by 2 pm. Feel free to contact me with questions by clicking here.

Appalachian Trail Yoga Hike

If you haven't joined this fascinating hike, don't miss this chance!  This two-mile hike passes through red-pine forests, open hillsides, and goes along the "Old King's Highway," a historic farm road bordered by stone walls and ancient sugar maples.  The hike peaks at a cairn at 1713 feet with a panoramic view of the Green Mountains.  But the true "peak" is off the trail, when we take a short cut through the forest to use an old stone-wall barn foundation as a woodland yoga studio.

Sponsored by the NPS, you can enjoy our national lands and participate in this Yoga Hike for FREE.  No yoga experience necessary, but due to the moderate climb, you will want to be at an average fitness level.  (If you're a regular walker, you will do fine!)  No registration required; simply show up at Billings Farm in Woodstock to catch the 2:00 shuttle. Bring water and a light blanket or towel for the final relaxation meditation.  Please contact me with questions or concerns, and I'll see you there!

Labor Day Yoga Hike

HIKE IS FULL!

Saving the best for last this summer season - a Yoga Hike and labyrinth walk at a brand-new site! Leading Fields is a private short-term rental property in the hills just north of Woodstock. As the former estate of Barbara Kaufman, a Vermont sculptor, the site displays some of her sculptures that evoke the wonder of the natural world. After enjoying her sculptures, we'll convene for a yoga warmup, and then take an exhilarating hike uphill through the woods to the family cemetery marked with more sculpture and a stellar view. After a hilltop yoga session, we'll hike back down through woods and fields that continue to allow you a inspiring view of the area. We’ll have plenty of yoga moments both on the up and down hill hikes.

If this weren't enough, you will finish your experience with a silent walking meditation on the Leading Fields labyrinth. Labyrinth-walking meditation is a powerful tool for gaining insight into your life and purpose as we transition from summer to fall. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after the event. For access to the grounds, the yoga hike, and the labyrinth walk, there's a $25 fee if you pre-pay by 8/31, or $35 at the event. Sign up now and save! (You can pre-pay below or pay me in class.) Once you register, you’ll be on the list to get specific instructions to get to the site.

Yoga By The Sea

A dream come true: yoga, hiking, Asian food, and the beach!  Join me for this outing by the sea at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye, NH, which has sweeping views of the ocean as well as rocky and sandy beaches.  We'll start the day with a two-hour Yoga Hike along an extensive network of trails which explore the park's various landscapes: intertidal rocky shores, maritime cobble beach, high salt marsh, beach-grass grassland, and costal salt-pond marshes.  We'll also hike by defunct bunkers, vestiges from the World War II era.  Yes, we will do yoga on the shore, with a sweet relaxation to finish.

Afterwards, we’ll picnic with a sumptuous Asian vegetarian lunch provided by Green Elephant in Portsmouth.  Either enjoy the beach during the afternoon, hit the shops in Portsmouth, or area locals can sign up for a Thai Yoga massage. Event fee is $55, which includes lunch. You can pre-pay below or email me to register.

This event will include a quarter-mile hike along the park's Ravine Trail which has a short steep descent down to a quiet brookside path, and an ascent back up to the grounds to view Saint-Gaudens' striking temple.

Sponsored by the National Park Service, this FREE yoga event is geared towards those who want a slower, more meditative experience.   The optional yoga poses will be at a beginner/easy level.  Registration is not required; simply meet us in the park's main parking lot at 10:15 by the kiosk. If you haven't visited this gorgeous site yet, no more excuses!

Get Gonged! Kundalini Yoga with Gong Meditation

Join us for this very special Thursday in Randolph. At the end of class, Tony Bednar will be conducting a healing sound meditation through the sounds of his gong. The gong promotes deep relaxation, unblocks latent emotions, stimulates the glands, and provides a deep sense of peace. The vibrations and sound of the gong will provide you with an “instant meditation” as you unwind from the yoga practice. If you have trouble meditating, this experience is for you!

Although the class meets weekly, the gong is a special treat, so mark your calendar to join us! We will begin class with a gentle warm-up, followed by a set to balance the upward- and downward-flowing energies of the body at the navel center and then move it to the heart. The set ends with a sweet heart meditation which promotes healing energy in the hands and will elevate your mood!

No need to pre-register; you can use your True Center multi-class pass or pay $15 walk-in that morning.

Attracting Abundance: Kundalini & The Law of Attraction

If you want your fortunes to shift, you have to begin telling a different story.
-Abraham Hicks

If you only do one event with me, ever, THIS IS THE ONE!  Stop limiting yourself with ideas of scarcity, doubt, and regret. Open your life to greater goodness and abundance, by which I mean - cash money!

Kundalini Yoga master Yogi Bhajan taught several ancient practices to raise your energy and bring on the good green stuff.  From my own experience, I can tell you that they really work. I'll be teaching those practices so you can find out for yourself!  In addition, local luminary Lise Miller will engage us in a discussion on the Law of Attraction, which gives you permission to focus on feel-good emotions.  We're not offering not a get-rich-quick scheme; we're offering a revolution in your worldview and practices that will steadily bring wellness, contentment, and yes, cash!

If you secretly think that money is bad or has nothing to do with spirituality, then sign up NOW for this informative workshop that will reorient you towards the good that money can do you.

Register by emailing me by clicking here or simply pre-pay by clicking here.  The workshop is priceless, but we're charging $40 as your investment in a brighter future for yourself.

New Year's Jumpstart: Establishing a Daily Practice

Ready to be your best self – every day?  Join me and your fellow yogis for a two-hour workshop on establishing a daily practice.  You will learn several short, simple Kundalini yoga sequences and meditations that you can choose from to practice on your own.  When practiced daily, these accessible sequences will have profound, transformative effects on all levels of your being – physical, emotional, and spiritual.  We will also discuss and anticipate the challenges of committing to a daily practice.

In the Kundalini yoga tradition, aspirants pick a practice and do it for at least 40 days in a row!  Because this is the challenge, this workshop goes beyond the two-hour event:  you will also get handouts of the practices and a spot in an email group to provide support, inspiration, and advice in establishing the first 40 days of your new routine.

Note that I am offering the same workshop twice in one weekend so hopefully one of the times and places works for you.  The cost is $30 if you pre-pay by December 29, or $40 afterwards.  To register for the workshop at True Center Yoga on Sunday from 1-3, email me by clicking here. To pre-pay through Paypal, click here.

CBD & Yoga: Earth Energy

Curious about CBD?  Want to experience it in a safe, supportive environment?  This event is for you!  We'll be bringing CBD, a bioactive compound isolated from the hemp plant, into a full-body, slow-flow yoga practice followed by a meditative healing session with micro-massages.  Spend your Sunday connecting with the earth through the power of this plant and a grounding yoga practice at Upper Valley Yoga in White River Junction.

Yogis Rachael and Andrew of Ropana LLC, will be offering CBD infusions for the experience.  Before the practice, you can try the Ropana Nectar CBD Tincture, which brings relaxed mental clarity, and/or one of their CBD salves for muscular relief.  This local company blesses all their CBD medicines with a healing mantra that means calm, collected, and mindful.  (Ropana means "to heal oneself" in Sanskrit.)  Rachael and Andrew will lead the class with a discussion on CBD and answer all your questions about this popular new medicine.  Then I’ll guide you through a sweet slow-flow yoga session to stretch all the sore spots, and finish the class by giving short face and head massages.

This event is $25 if you pre-pay by 10/28 or $35 afterward.  To pre-pay, click on this link and scroll to the class date on November 4 to pay through that link.

Please note that CBD is non-psychoactive and will not get you high, though the yoga might!

Kundalini Yoga for Stress Relief

Back by popular demand!  Release your worries during this yogic relaxation series designed to remove negativity and tension.  You will learn stress-relieving breath techniques that you can use to calm yourself at any time and additional exercises to relax chronic tension in the face, neck, and shoulders.  During the final relaxation period, you'll receive a sweet face massage with lavender oil.  The class will close with a soothing meditation to expand your intuition and clear the mind, and then we'll bring you back to earth with some delicious homemade treats!

This class meets at Angie Follensbee-Hall's "Jai Studios" in Brownsville, VT, a healing oasis for art and yoga.  Yogis of all levels - even beginners or folks with limited range of motion - will benefit from these practices.  Please pre-register by contacting me here or Angie at this link. Investment is $25 if you pre-pay, or $35 at the door, so sign up now!

Awaken Your Inner Body with Kundalini Yoga

It's my turn to offer the FREE monthly community class at Upper Valley Yoga, so you have a risk-free opportunity to try Kundalini yoga if you haven't yet!  Then afterward, go out and enjoy First Friday in White River Junction, when galleries are open late and people are out on the streets.

I hope you can join us for this special workout which will charge you up - body, mind, and soul.  Experience the magic of Kundalini yoga - The Yoga of Awareness - as you witness energy moving through your body during a series of accessible yet dynamic movements.  We'll close with a deep relaxation and a mantra-chanting meditation to raise your vibration.

This FREE community class is open to all levels of yoga experience.  Register online by clicking here and scrolling down the calendar to June 1 to click on the register link.
